WOLF GARDEN is a brand-new horror film. An fascinating notion that falls short of success. Regrettably, the main character's casting just doesn't work. The indie and low-budget horror film will be available on digital and VOD platforms. Read our whole Wolf Garden film review!
WOLF GARDEN is a low-budget horror film that will be available on digital and VOD. The use of the term "wolf" in the title, as well as references to a "monster" and "the next full moon," leads to the unavoidable conclusion: this is a werewolf horror film. And it is, but it is a unique and intriguing take on the werewolf theme.
Regrettably, the main character's casting causes the film to fall flat. And he's played by the film's writer and director, so perhaps he should've delegated the acting to someone else. Simply concentrate on crafting a fantastic film with the greatest possible actors for the story.

Be wary of the full moon.
We encounter William (Wayne David) at Wolf Garden, who is hiding in the wilderness. He's in a luxury hotel, so it's not all horrible. Nonetheless, the tragic and violent events that drove him to hide out there are unquestionably bad.
We watch a story portrayed in a variety of ways as William fights to accept reality. We always follow William, but he alternates between the past, the present, and fantasies about the lady he loves, Chantelle (Sian Altman).
As the story progresses and we get a better perspective, we're continually confronted with a never-ending task: William is constantly feeding a monster he's kept trapped within a shed in the woods. Or, more precisely, what appears to be just outside the grounds of his rural hideaway.
Later, William is joined by a visitor who tries to compel him to act, continuously urging him that he must kill the monster in the shed. And he has till the next full moon to do so.
Sian Altman is fantastic as Chantelle.
As much as I dislike Wayne David in the starring role of William in Wolf Garden, I adore Sian Altman. She takes on the character of Chantelle, William's great love. Furthermore, while Sian Altman as Chantelle is convincing as a lovely and caring woman, Wayne David as William is not.
That's a lot bigger issue when this is, in many senses, a love story. Yeah, it's a horror film, but any excellent horror film must elicit your emotions. Whether it's love between friends, family, or romantic love, it has to be plausible.
In most instances, William is a pretty flat and cold character, which makes it difficult to comprehend why the gorgeous Chantelle would be with him. This would have been a completely different film if William had been played by someone else - or merely differently by Wayne David. And all the better for it!
Wolf Garden is available on VOD.
Wayne David, who also stars in the film, wrote and directed the new horror film Wolf Garden. According to what I've gathered, Wayne David's feature picture debut is complete. He has worked on short films and television shows, but not feature films. Or, more precisely, he appeared in the 2018 romantic dramedy Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda, thus he has some acting experience.
Nonetheless, it would have been better for the film if someone else had played the lead role. It is simply impossible to do everything. Yet, with a fascinating concept and style, it's a shame that the casting ends up being a letdown.
Selling it as a "unique new horror picture in the tradition of It Follows" is also a bit much. This is in no way, shape, or form similar to It Follows. It is, however, distinct in other ways, so that component is acceptable. Check it out if you want to see a fresh indie and low-budget horror film. Hopefully, the casting will not distract or irritate you as much as it did me.
Wolf Garden will be accessible digitally and on demand beginning February 28, 2023.
